World Earth Day | Unlocking the Way to Love Her

Source:Integrated network | Release time:2022-04-27 | Share:

World Earth Day, also known as April 22nd every year, is a holiday dedicated to protecting the world's environment. Aim to raise public awareness of existing environmental issues and mobilize people to participate in environmental protection movements, improving the overall environment of the earth through green and low-carbon living.

In the face of unprecedented difficulties in global environmental governance, the international community must adopt unprecedented ambition and action to jointly discuss strategies to address the challenges of climate change, seek ways for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, take on responsibilities with courage, work together, and jointly build a community of shared life between humans and nature.

The issue of ecological environment is not limited to the international community, it concerns all of humanity and every one of us.

Existing ecological and environmental issues

NO1. Global warming increases health risks such as infectious diseases

The sharp decline of forests and greenhouse gas emissions have led to global warming and rising sea levels. The incidence rate of fluorosis and other diseases is significantly increased due to seawater intrusion and pollution of groundwater. The population migration caused by rising sea levels will increase health risks such as infectious diseases.

NO2. Ozone layer depletion, causing skin diseases and cataracts

Human production of refrigerants produces a large amount of fluorocarbons, causing ozone layer depletion and increasing the amount of ultraviolet radiation reaching the ground. Excessive ultraviolet radiation can damage the human immune system, induce various skin diseases, and also damage the cornea and intraocular lens, leading to cataracts.

NO3. Acid rain significantly reduces crop yields

The combustion of fossil fuels and automobile exhaust emissions are the main causes of acid rain. Acid rain not only affects human heart and lung function, but also induces plant diseases and pests, resulting in significant crop yield reduction and protein content decrease, thereby threatening human health.

NO4. Drought, endangering agricultural and animal husbandry production

The destruction of the ecological environment has triggered more drought problems. Drought is the first disaster that endangers agricultural and animal husbandry production. It not only directly affects freshwater supply and exacerbates land desertification, but also creates conditions for locust reproduction in dry weather, resulting in greater losses.

NO5. Floods threaten lives and increase the risk of infectious diseases

Deforestation, expansion of arable land, and other changes have altered the surface conditions, exacerbating the severity of floods. Floods and their secondary disasters such as mudslides can directly cause a large number of casualties, and they also provide breeding grounds for insects carrying diseases, increasing the risk of waterborne diseases.

NO6. Air pollution is related to lung cancer and cardiovascular disease

The smoke and harmful gases generated by industrial and agricultural production, transportation, etc. pollute the air, posing a huge health threat -13 people die every minute worldwide as a result. Air pollutants penetrate deep into the respiratory and circulatory systems, increasing the risk of lung cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

What should we do

This blue planet has existed for billions of years, and as newcomers, humans should cherish this homeland even more. Therefore, we propose the following:

1. Green travel, reducing carbon emissions

Try to choose public transportation, bicycles, or walking for daily travel. When the weather is clear, people can also go outdoors for cycling, brisk walking, etc., which not only exercises the body, relaxes the mind and body, but also reduces the use of motor vehicles, reduces car exhaust emissions, lowers energy consumption, and protects the air environment.

2. Save water and protect water resources

Water resources are not inexhaustible. We should start from every little detail of our lives and save water in details such as washing, bathing, cooking, washing cars, and doing laundry.

3. Reasonably use electricity and cherish energy

If you no longer need to use appliances such as mobile phones, televisions, computers, etc. in a short period of time, you should turn off the power in a timely manner. Reasonably arrange indoor light sources to maximize the efficiency of natural light utilization. Turn off the lights promptly when not in use, which can protect vision and save energy.

4. Use paper reasonably and eliminate waste

The consumption of paper in daily work or life is astonishing. When it comes to choosing tissues, we can try to choose bamboo pulp tissues as much as possible, which can minimize tree felling. When printing documents, you can choose double-sided, and used paper can also be used on the opposite side.

5. Fasting on wild animals and protecting the ecological environment

Protecting wildlife means protecting ecological balance, respecting nature and life, and protecting the earth.

6. Garbage classification and promotion of resource reuse

In daily life, we should separate and dispose of waste, utilize existing production and manufacturing capabilities, recycle and reuse recycled products, and turn waste into treasure.

7. Use less plastic products and keep environmentally friendly items on hand

Reduce the use of plastic bags and keep them as regular or reusable shopping bags when going out. Meanwhile, try to minimize the use of disposable bowls, chopsticks, cups, etc.

Earth is our home, and it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to cherish it. And the purpose of these 'little things' we do is not just to save a few kWh of electricity and a pair of disposable chopsticks, but more importantly, to awaken everyone's love for the earth, so as to care for and protect our planet for a longer time. Let's continue to adhere to low-carbon living and protect our planet together!
